The diagnosis is made by observation, Any hair-bearing surface may be affected. The cause is unknown but mostly related to autoimmune episode. An interaction between genetic and environmental factors may trigger the disease. Traction Alopecia

Prolonged tension or traction created by certain hairstyles (such, as braids or ponytails), hair rollers, and hot hair-straightening combs may result in temporary or, rarely, permanent hair loss in the area corresponding exactly to the stressed hair. The scalp may appear normal or may show evidence of redness or scarring.

Telogen Effluvium

A number of events have been documented that prematurely terminate anagen that is growth phase and cause an abnormally high number of normal hairs to enter the resting or shading, or telogen, phase. The follicle is not diseased but has had its biologic clock reset and undergoes a normal involutional process. Usually no more than 50% of the patient's hair is affected. Scarring and inflammation are absent. Any infection or stressful event like any accident or surgery can cause telogen effluvium.

Nutritional Hair loss

Nutritional deficiency may impact both hair structure and hair growth and is a type of temporary hair loss that occurs due to a disruption in the normal hair growth cycle. It's often triggered by a nutritional deficiency, such as insufficient intake of certain vitamins, minerals, or proteins essential for hair health. Seborrheic dandruff, also known as seborrheic dermatitis or dandruff, is a common skin condition that mainly affects the scalp. It's characterized by redness, itching, and flaking of the skin, often resulting in dandruff or flaky skin. Many adult patients have an oily complexion, the so-called seborrhoea. In adults, seborrheic dermatitis tends to survive, but it undergoes a duration of remission and exacerbation. The extent of involvement among patients varies widely. Most cases can be adequately controlled. The role of fungal element can not be rolled out. Using oily or greasy product increases the chance of dandruff. Dandruff can affect beard, chest and ears also.

Scarring Alopecia

The destruction of the hair follicle occurs below the skin surface so there may not be much to see on the scalp skin surface other than patchy hair loss. Affected areas may be smooth and clean, have redness, scaling, increased or decreased pigmentation. In scarring alopecia the hair follicles are permanently damaged and can not be reversed. It can be slow or stopped with help of drugs.

Role Of Medicine

Vitamins and Minerals For Hair Growth

Hair loss is a common problem that may be improved with vitamins and minerals. Minerals And Vitamins are necessary for regular cell growth and function and may contribute to hair loss when they are deficient. While supplementation is relatively affordable and easily accessible, it is important to understand which minerals and vitamins help treat hair loss.

vitamin D, vitamin B12, Iron, folate, and selenium are vitamins and minerals that may be involved in hair fall and hair thinning during adulthood. Supplementing these deficient micronutrients can improve premature thinning and hair fall.

Finasteride

Androgenetic alopecia(male pattern hair loss) is caused by androgen-dependent miniaturization of scalp hair follicles, with scalp dihydrotestosterone (DHT) level implicated as a contributing cause. Finasteride blocks 5a-reductase type II, which inhibits the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone and decreases serum and cutaneous dihydrotestosterone concentrations. This slows further hair loss, inhibits androgen-dependent miniaturization of hair follicles, and enhances hair growth and hair weight in males with androgenetic alopecia.

Minoxidil

Minoxidil was developed to treat hypertension. It increases the period of anagen, causes follicles at rest to grow, and enlarges miniaturized follicles. It increases the scalp's blood and thus increases the growth rate of hairs. One milliliter of solution is applied twice daily and spread lightly with a finger. An applicator conveniently and effectively applies the medication. Minoxidil increases non-vellus hairs. Spontaneous reversal to the pretreatment state occurs in 1 to 3 months after stopping treatment. So it’s advisable not stop suddenly We can hold it intermittently and continue for long time for good density and growth. It can cause dry scalp and cause itching in few patients.

PRP/ GFC

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and growth factor concentrate (GFC) are advanced medical treatments that harness the body's natural healing processes to promote tissue regeneration and repair. PRP involves extracting a small amount of the patient's blood, which is then centrifuged to separate the platelet-rich plasma containing growth factors. This concentrated plasma is then injected into the targeted area, stimulating cell growth, collagen production, and tissue repair.

Similarly, GFC is derived from blood plasma and contains a higher concentration of growth factors to accelerate healing and improve tissue quality. Both PRP and GFC therapies are used in various medical fields, including orthopedics, dermatology, and aesthetic medicine, to treat conditions such as hair loss, skin rejuvenation, and tissue injuries. These innovative treatments offer a safe, minimally invasive approach to enhance healing and promote optimal health and vitality. The PRP and GFC can be done with Dermaroller or microneedling.
